Word for 2010

Many of the bloggers I enjoy reading {like Erica and Rachel} have chosen words to define them and their goals for 2010. Last week {I set resolutions} for the new year, and now I've been inspired and have finally settled upon my word:

This really should be the word for my entire life, since I have the natural tendency to get my panty hose all in a knot over every. dang. thing. But this year, if I keep it in mind, maybe I'll be able to:
  • Relax and sometimes just let the house be a mess and stay a mess and really really truly not care too much. Because I will clean it and it will turn into a disaster again. It's not worth stressing over.
  • Relax and not worry that I'm not good enough. I've made it this far in life, so I must be pretty good, right?
  • Relax and take care of myself. I run ragged being a mother, wife, daughter, sister, youth church leader, etc. Make more time for me and what makes me happy.
  • Relax and laugh about the chaos. Enjoy it if possible. Having 3 kids 3 and under isn't something everybody gets to experience--its hilarious.
  • Relax and take time to dream and plan about the future. And not let the future scare me.
There I feel relaxed already.

What's your word for 2010? I'd love to post a list at the end of the week with links to your "word for 2010" posts. Leave a comment if you're up for it.

My Mother in Law posted this on facebook a week or so ago. I thought really hard about it. I decided that my word is Diligence. between going back to church, school and motherhood it defines my every move.

I need your word. I'm stealing it. It's really what I need. I mean some things I can't relax much more than they already are (like dusting) but other things really need to unwind and just REEEELAX. So thanks for bringing it up. I'm with you on this one.

I want to be more active and quicker to do the things I know I should do or need to do mentally and physically. So my magic word is going to be "agility."

We did a lot of agility exercises back in the day at football practice. I was really good at those. I might even brag that the coach would tell others to model my movements. If I could scrounge up a fraction of that agility I would be happy.

Well, my first thought was that my word should be "relax," too--although the older I get the easier it is. I really loved your list. (We have a lot in common, I think--besides the 3 kids under 3.) Keep your list somewhere where you'll see it every day because it really is beautiful. RE.....LAX.

SAVOR!
I want to savor the moments weather they be hectic, dull, playful, challenging, momentous, or average. They are mine and I wont get the chance to have them again. I am going to enjoy them while I can.

Can I borrow your word? Haha!

How about LEARN. That's easy, cause I'm in school, but it can apply to everything. Go to church to actually LEARN, listen to my kids to LEARN from them, Read the newspaper to LEARN about world events. Sharpen the old noggin, if you will.

embrace.
I need to embrace the fact that children want/need me to be with them all the time.
I need to embrace my home, the mess, the laundry the noise...because I wouldn't want my life to be without.
I will EMBRACE LIFE.

em⋅brace
1. to take or clasp in the arms; press to the bosom; hug.
2. to take or receive gladly or eagerly; accept willingly:

Thanks for the idea, I just might do this on my own...I LOVE your blog and read it daily. Thanks for all the laughs. (and fun ideas)You are adorable!

I have been reading your blog for awhile. Its highly delightful!

My new words for the new year is PATIENCE and COURAGE.
I need to have the patience and courage to go through infertility treatments, I need to have courage to endure what will happen to my body if I get pregnant.

Relax--- This surprises me- you seem like the most relaxed person in the world... ok my word is to "work." I want to be more organized, more active, more clean and "working" more- it will all come together! Guess I better get off the computer...

Relax is such a great one. I'm going to do that too. I'm so not original but, when you learn from a wise person, why make up your own right? Thanks!
