I finally finished my {chalk board project}. I'm still thinking of painting the frame, but for now we're calling it good. I bought a really ugly printed picture and gigantic frame from the thrift sotre and gave it 12 coats of magnetic primer and 3 coats of chalkboard spray paint. All that painting took a couple of days, but now we have ourselves a magnetic chalkboard (but I don't care if I don't see a paint roller again for a very long time).
Added bonus: with our pull-down map our front room looks like a regular old school house. Awesome.

Love it!!! You did an awesome job!! Yeah for FINISHING a project!! I really need to do that too. Love ya Megs!
That's very cool. I never thought of making a chalk board magnetic. We always had one in the family room, and the kids played school with it - and you know, in our house, we really did play school. I like the way you're putting that home together. I hope Maggie notices enough outside of the games she doesn't get to play to remember how wonderful her home was. Great home. Great Mom.
What did you start with--I mean, what's under all that magnetic/chalkboard paint? I kept trying to convince my hubby to let me paint a wall in our house with chalkboard paint and he doesn't approve :( but what you did might be a good second best. I don't have a chalkboard and I'm a homeschool mom, for heaven's sake!! GRRR!!!
Want to come to my house and help me paint a chalkboard???? I promise Miriam will keep Maggie occupied the whole time.
Turned out so fun Megs!
I LOVE it! Actually, coveting it a little bit...
I second what Kristen says. Great idea, great home, great mom! Your babies are lucky and blessed to have you as their mum.
Brennan has your dad this year for English. I just read a paper he wrote and he said, "this sucks" in his paper. I told Brennan, "you can't say sucks in front of THE BISHOP"! :)
um, excuse me??? where is the "Entire room reveal photo"???????
thanks... i will be patient and stay tuned... ;)
SO cool!!!
I just think we were meant to be friends. I have a chalkboard over here too. And three desks, but NO pull down map. Now, that would be cool. I love your chalkboard. Where did you get the frame?
Okay...now I'm thinking "where can I put a chalkboard like that in MY house?"
I love that idea! I need to be more creative around here. You come up with some awesome idea, Megs!
ok, I have just purchased magnetic and chalkboard paint to do a wall in our kitchen. Do I really need 12coats of magnetic paint? Did you spray that on as well?
