Showered with Embarrassment

Tomorrow after school the gang is throwing me and Kate a shower. Kate just had her first baby, an adorable little girl that she will be bringing to the shower. And me, well, I'm just fat. Fat with twins.

I'm feeling kind of dumb to be having a shower since I am a member of the Sunshine Committee that is in charge of shower throwing and it says right on our list of regulations: "showers for first babies only."

But look at that cute invitation! And heaven knows I'm gonna need all the clothes and diapers and blankets I can get. Not to mention that I'm going to be having a yard sale to raise funds for a triple stroller the cheapest of which I have found will still cost me over $300. So yes, I need help. I guess I just feel unworthy of any offered charity.

In my next life I intend to be a much better person in general--maybe then I won't be so unworthy.

I wish I could go and shower you with ...gift certificates for my business. That is the only gift I give these days.:) My ward loves baby showers. The last two I went were for a mom having her four and a mom having her fifth. These are your first boys, and you're getting two so I think you are right, take all the charity you can get. :O) People love giving it!

Megan-It's not charity! People are excited for you, and it's not everyday you get two babies for the price of one...so that right there is worth a party:) You will need a lot of stuff. I think twins are the exception to every "rule." They obviously didn't feel like the rule applied. So if they felt good about giving you a shower, you should enjoy it!You deserve it! Mel :)

I know how you feel, when we were moving here I was prego with E'en and my old ward got the crazy idea to throw me a surprise shower. I was kind of weirded out because it was my 4th kid and I had already had 2 boys. But in your case you need it, I didn't. Twins are EXPENSIVE especially when they are little and you are using 20-30 diapers a day. So don't feel guilty, you need all the help you can get and You deserve it. People always say 2 for the price of 1 but it's actually buying 2 of things you wouldn't need 2 of if you only had 1 baby. Like clothes for example, you probably wouldn't buy 1 baby 2 of the same outfit. Anyway I'll stop talking now.

I'm not giving you nothing, even if I get invited to three of your showers. It's against my principles to give gifts for mothers who've previously birthed.

MEGAN! First I must say, WOW you are having twins. I can imagine that's a truck load of emotions. I admire you and if anyone deserves anything it's you. I am so glad you found me. I am new to this blogging stuff and love that I can reconnect with long lost friends. =) Good luck and stay in touch!
Ps. IT still makes me pee my pants.
