Fourth of July

I love the 4th of July. I also love a parade. The 4th of July parade is something that I look forward to all year. Luckily my brother and dad (two people, not the same person) stepped up to save us awesome parade seats this year. Thanks fellas, my fetus, my husband, my children, and I appreciated it.

I had big plans to buy my kids new 4th of July outfits and paint stars on their faces and make them so patriotic even Uncle Sam would be jealous, but it just didn't happen. I did manage to make sure their faces were clean when we left the house. I'm baby-steppin'.

My Uncle Garth and various favorite cousins were there for the festivities. See how festive my mom and her little brother were?

My kids were dazzled by the pre-parade. And then it just got more dazzling from then on out. I would have taken pictures of my favorite entries (I love the KSL float, news anchors are an obsession of mine. I also love Utah County marching bands, BYU, and missionaries. Who doesn't love missionaries!?) but  I was too busy dancing and yelling and making a real fool of myself like I do every year.

Later that night after we spent the day eating, swimming, and laughing at Grandma's house, we enjoyed the Driveway of Fire. A stray Piccolo Pete flew on its side and landed on my sleeping son Will during the firework demonstration, but other than that it was a good show. My heart finally stopped racing and I started to enjoy myself again right about when the night was over. That was SCARY.

Hurray for the 4th of July!

You SEE? YOU SEE? All those years I made you kids hold up the front edge of the blanket during the driveway of fire? THAT'S WHAT I WAS AFRAID OF. That's why we had the rule about only one person lighting at a time, and stuff. I just KNEW someday something like that would happen. I"M NOT CRAZY!!!

I LOVE the 4th of July!!!! We have not found once ounce of AmazingFourthOfJuly-ness in NY, and it is SERIOUSLY disappointing. I went to Provo's parade last year and it ROCKED. Same here--I love BYU and missionaries. It was an awesome parade. Love your cute little photos, too!!!
