Visiting Grandma and Grandpa

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa used to mean a drive across town. Now it means a 6 hour road trip to Vegas. My wonderful Aunt Kathy and Uncle Garth have taken Grandma and Grandpa to their home to give them the care and attention that they need. Grandpa's health has been fading fast, and Grandma's memory is going just as quickly (Alzheimer's).  So I was really feeling the need to go visit my sweet grandparents and let them know how much they mean to me.

My mom was making the trip to Las Vegas, so Maggie and I tagged along with her. It ended up being the most wonderful weekend. My uncle Shaun and aunt Susan were able to come as well with two of my cousins, Shaylin and Devin. We had such sweet, hilarious, and fun conversations and really enjoyed the time we got to spend together as a family.

I love my family.

How nice. I know how hard it is to see grandparents slowly fade. How nice that you could get some awesome family time in.

Oh. I looked at this post kind of absently as I've stumbled through the day - and every time, I thought, "Who are those people?" And now, I'm really looking and I realize they are your grandparents. And my eyes are burning. How did we all get old so fast? This is not the way I see them in my head - when did this happen? When did this happen? I think I'm astonished. About them. About me. About the whole thing. We talk about mortality, but who would have thought that it would actually ever happen?

I love the pictures, they are so sweet! We are sure grateful for our Grandparents and the incredible examples that they have been to us. They lived wonderful lives and have helped all of us become who we are today! I'm glad that you got the chance to go down, both for you and for Grandma and Grandpa. They love people, they always have!

You're wonderful Megs
