Valentine Spectacular

I love a good party. I love to plan them. I love to decorate for them. I love them! So, last year I decided that instead of trying to throw an ill-attended Christmas holiday fete, I would go for a lesser celebrated holiday: Valentine's Day. It was a success. So this year, we did it again.

The only really sad part was that I somehow lost my camera. After spending 15 minutes during the super intense "Running Charades" game looking for it, I gave up and resorted to using my camera phone:

On the menu that evening we had strawberry filled cupcakes with cream-cheese frosting, oreo bon-bons, Tiff's darling heart shaped brownie's, Beth's delicious Bruschetta, red pepper jelly over cream cheese served with crackers, corn and black bean salsa, and some of my very favorite Valentine candies (red and pink m&m's, chocolate covered cinnamon bears, and classic conversation hearts. Gosh I love those little things).

Plus, I made heart shaped ice (it only took me a week to make enough with my tiny little IKEA ice cube tray). But when I saw the adorable little hearts floating in my diet coke I knew it was totally worth it.

As mentioned, we played some party games. One of my favorite party games over the last few years is Running Charades. It's played like normal charades only there are 2 teams. The teams are located in different rooms and somewhere between the two (equidistant of course) stands a person with the list of 10 movies, songs, t.v. shows, or books. One person from each team gets the first clue from the clue giver and runs back to their team and acts it out. When the clue is guessed then the person that guessed it runs back to the clue giver and gets the next one, and so on and so on. The team that gets through the list first wins. It was awesome. Except that poor Tia got stuck trying to act out 'Davinci Code" until Beth took pity on us and gave us a hint.

After Running charades we had our White Elephant Valentine gift exchange. The best gift of the evening was this:

Marilyn and Sam really outdid themselves with the creation and branding of the Twuggee. And Dan and I nearly got to keep it for ourselves. Every time we sit on the couch now to watch a movie, it's colder and lonelier, knowing what could have been...

Thanks to all who came, we laughed and giggled and laughed some more.

It were a good party. We had way more fun than we were expecting. I especially liked the guy (in the bishopric?) who were sittin' next to us during taboo.

Megan, I told Dan already that I only cried for like two hours since I couldn't come down. Lame, lame, lame! I am so glad it was a success!
