We did that in Canada in elementary school. It was one of the things I missed when we moved to the States.

I remember doing the Maypole dance in my sixth grade. I was excited because I got to be by the boy I liked. Haha. Oh, the memories.

AWESOME PICS!

I did that exact dance for our elementary end of the year program. It was tradition that the 6th graders did this dance. We would practice for weeks to be sure that the braid was right and that we all ended back to where we started when we unbraided the strings during the dance as well. So many good memories...thanks for posting.

p.s. totally makes me sound old...ugh!

Man - I always wanted to do one of those. I even looked like that, back in the day. But I guess I missed the pagan thing, out in LA and all . . . It's just so mysterious, all those ribbons and no knots - shoot. Why didn't we do one of those with you guys?
