- into my gas tank so that I could drive 50 miles to see Dan and then 50 miles back.
- towards skim milk and Cocoa Pebbles cereal so that I could survive.
- to T Mobile to pay the huge phone bills that were the direct result of being engaged to someone I only had the opportunity of seeing on the weekends who also used a different cell service so we couldn't get free minutes.
Dan was doing an internship where he sat for hours watching video of sewer lines. The job sucked and the pay was worse. Then instead of Dan getting a tax return that would have paid for our honeymoon and a down payment on a wedding ring, it turned out he owed $1000.
Needless to say, we ended up buying the wedding ring at Arrowhead Pawn.
Tucked behind the counter next to the stolen car stereo systems and the gun paraphernalia was the jewelry. We stood there trying stuff on and finally settled on the beauty I still wear today. But there was this other ring that was a huge flower, come to think of it, it was probably just costume jewelry and I wanted it but it was so weird, I was afraid of how I would explain it to people: "Yeah, this was my grandmas and it was her dying wish that I would wear it as my wedding ring...."
Anyway, we always joked that we'd have to go back to Arrowhead Pawn and get some of the really flashy stuff.
So Dan did. For my birthday:
Isn't that the hottest pink ring you ever saw?
