Open the Gates and Seize the Day

My little Maggie has, much to my astonishment and chagrin, turned into a bit of a couch potato. Her episodes of clinging to the door and whining "Ou-SIDE...." are now behind us as she points to the movie collection on the bookcase and shouts "Show!? Show!?"

Part of me thinks, "Well Megan, its not like you can really put her on and take her off the swings 800 times a day anyway in your pregnant state, just sit down and watch a show with her." But then the educator in me shouts, "She's not even 2! She should not be glued to a television screen!"

So what do I do? I pop The Little Mermaid in the VCR and plop my fat rear on the couch.

But not today. Today we went out on errands first thing--buying a new sprinkler (our sprinkler system is really missing some spots...), a new bathroom faucet (our's sprung a serious leak this morning), and stopping at the gas station (ouch.)

Upon our return home Mag-myster demanded a show. She selected Peter Pan but I slyly substituted Newsies. And wouldn't you know? As Christian Bale sang about opening the gates and seizing the day a tear came to my eyes. Yes, I was crying while watching Newsies. God bless Jack Kelly.

Let's just blame it on pregnancy hormones, shall we?

How random, I just watched that movie yesterday! :) Great minds think alike. I bawl like a baby every single time. You're not the only one!

Don't feel bad; I cried during "Starlight Express" (plot summary: rollerskating trains), and I wasn't even pregnant. Ask Beth.

Oh honey do not even worry yourself for two seconds about having your baby sit and watch t.v. I know, I know, the research all shows that if she does her brain will shrivel like a raison but let me tell you, if she doesn't........yours will because you are so exhausted running after her. Take it from someone who has had a TON of kids and is very anti t.v. There are two times in my life that I use it and I use it good. A) when I'm preggo., sick, fat, and miserable and need to rest. B) After I've had baby and am sick, fat, miserable and need rest. :o) I let my kids sit and watch DVD's and PBS. PBS rocks!!

movies are OK. They just are. And I LOVE newsies. I was just thinking about it yesterday actually because we were in NY. Not only do I love newsies, but I LOVE Christian Bale.
Yes, I've cried too.

Sit down,,,relax with all the movies you want...and cry all you want. Eat all you want too...you are one of the most glamorous pregnant girls I have known...hang it there...you are getting CLOSE! And remember, pregnancy gets us away with a lot and justifies everything. Live it up for heaven's sake!
