If I Never See a Doctor Again...

Today was the day of Doctors. I went to the hospital this morning for my first AFI and Non-Stress Tests. I won't go into how stressful it was just to schedule the tests, and I'll just say that it was a surprisingly pleasant hour. I did some reading, put my feet up, and didn't have to chase Maggie at all (thanks to my Mother-in-Law who chased her for me). The Non-Stress test was pretty cool. They put little monitors on my gut so that they could keep track of the boys' heart-rates. The rates were stable for about 20 minutes so the nurse wanted to wake them up. She got out this sweet noise machine and scared those twins to death. Bless their hearts they jumped and it took them a few minutes to come to terms with it. You should have seen my belly move. It was like The Blob.

Then I left the hospital, checked my cell messages, and found that I had missed my appointment with my OBGYN. Somehow I'd scheduled my appointments at the same time. Duh. The not-so-nice nurse who left me the message said that I needed to come in before Thursday. But since my doctor and the hospital are both in Salt Lake and I now live in Lehi, I wasn't excited about making the trek up again another day this week. So, I took the only appointment they had available today at 2:00 pm.

In the meantime, I took Maggie to the pediatrician's office for her Hepatitis shot because last week they had informed us that they couldn't give it to her during her appointment. I guess her appointment was one day short of being 6 months from the time she had her first Hepatitis shot, and the shot is only effective if given later than 6 months. I really don't think one day would have ruined it, but whatever. Maggie screamed her poor little head off and she's too young to care about how cool her silver glittery bandaid was.

After Mag's shot we went to my OBGYN. I hadn't taken Maggie to any of my appointments by myself before so I didn't know how she'd do. Well, she did fine. Except that she screamed when I put her down so they could weigh me (I cried a little too when I saw the numbers--I am now the weight that I was when I had Maggie. Some of you know how big that number is. Pray for me). And then she screamed while I peed in a cup. Luckily I got her calmed down with a Go Diego! Go! book and a piece of gum so that the doctor could examine my humongous belly without Maggie clinging to me for dear life.

Anyway, 3 different health care centers in one day is a little much. But the good news is, we're all healthy. Annoyed and traumatized--yes--but healthy.

What a stressful day! I'm glad that you're all healthy. I'm pretty sure I agree that Maggie could have done just fine getting her shot one day short...I hate it when they get those!
I admire you for brining Maggie with you to your OB/GYN appointment...Mason usually turns into a terror at any doctor's office and it was my worst fear to bring him with me. I"m thinking about you lots!

Wow, what a crazy day! I absolutely hate bringing kids to my dr appts. It just makes it all the more stressful. Sounds like you did alright though, considering! You're such a trooper, I can't wait to see you!

I brought Bridge and Angi to my first appointment and Stewart was even there to help and we both agreed we'd never bring them again. It was a mess! I am glad Maggie was so good for you.:O) Bridger came to every one of Angi's appointments. By the end of my pregnancy he knew the contents of every cabinet in every office room :)
