Latest Nursery Find!

My dear friend Melanie gave me a gift card to Hip and Humble for my birthday, so on Friday I took the Mags with me to buy us somethin' cute. That store is out of control. I wanted to buy everything in it from onesies with blue herons on them to the funkiest aprons, colorful dishes, and coolest art. Seriously, who has blue heron onesies? Not Gymboree. They had this journal I almost bought for my mother because it said, "you are a beautiful bird"--thats funny once you realize my younger brother has been calling her "bird" for years but usually the adjective attached to the front of it is "old." Bless her.

Anyway, so what did I end up buying? I wanted those bird number pictures that I blogged about last month. Gosh I have a thing for birds. But they were gone. However, I believe I found something way better: Its an alphabet of hardware. They were the cutest things (and yes mine goes all the way to Z not just G). So I brought them home and wondered, "now what?" Flickr is always a trusted resource. I found the following pictures with some good decorative ideas. What would you do with 26 manly alphabet cards in your twins' room?

I love this Ida Pearle alphabet and I think the crazy way they strung them up on a string is adorable.

This entire room is awesome. I want everything. Sign me up for that.

This nursery was really cute and the couple who designed it for their kid made that alphabet. Why am I not a graphic designer? Please someone teach me.

And I liked how this one goes around the room. Very classy. I'd have to have Dan figure out the measurements for how to space them. I think I'd spend a good hour calculating it and still have it come out wrong. At least I have a laser level that I'm not bad at using.

What's your favorite one? And do you want to go to Hip and Humble with me? (please wait 3 months until we can recover from austerity mode where we're saving up for our down payment and not buying food, clothes, or anything that we don't have a gift card for).

Wow, so cute! It sounds like a fun store! I like the last look...simple and classy, like you said! Good luck! I want to see pics of your nursery when it's done! :)

Those are so great, Megs! I like them strung. And yes please, let's go to Hip & Humble, but we have to wait because I'll embarrass us in my pregnant state. They have those freshly baked cookies in the back and I seem to maneuver around the store enough times until the plate is empty.

I'm with Tasha (if that surprises you). I think it looks like boys but is still organized and clean looking.

And count me in on the Hip & Humble trip! I don't have kids so that opens me up to hold a couple of yours!

I think i'd put them along the wall--either at the very top or most of the way up. That's my favorite. and I REALLY want to go with you to that store. I'll be out there in a few weeks you know....

I'm so glad you found something! I like these cards better than the birds...they are adorable. I love the look of the last room and the room with the 2 twin beds. It looks really cute strung up as well, and as they got older you could hang their artwork or something with them. Anytime your up for Hip and Humble, count me in! Mel:)

LOVE those cards megan! I have the animal ones in the last picture and plan on putting them as a border aroudn the top of the walls in the baby room (when I have a boy). I'm sure you'll do something magnificient with them!

You have such great taste, Meg. I can't wait to copy whatever you do in your nursery.

where's this store? I wanna go there. Did you know Lorri had her baby? Your mom knows. We had alphabet cards all around the ceiling of the kids' rooms while you guys were growing up - don't you remember? They were really fun graphically - just like a border around the top of the wall -
