Our Maggie is one tough girl. To prove it she now carries around her toughness handbook: "Tough Boris" by Mem Fox. It is her favorite book--all about how tough pirates are. She is learning to be scruffy, greedy, massive, tough, and even scary. She seriously loves this book and will stare at the pictures. Its also currently the only book she will listen to me read to her. That's tough.
To show Maggie that I'm tough, too, just look at what I did. I realized that I don't have to fight with her about the bookshelves. We're moving (okay, probably not for another 4-5 months, but whatever) so I packed up the bottom shelves of both bookcases. She's found plenty else to busy herself with ('cause she's tougher than I'll ever be), but at least it has limited her mess making.
And for one more illustration of the toughness of Mags, here is the horse we borrowed from Grandma. Maggie loves to sit and climb on it. But she doesn't ride it from room to room. She carries it. She grunts like a weight lifter. Just check out those guns!

Well, I haven't commented in a while on account there's always 13 comments on each post by the time I get to it. But look! I guess I'm the only one with nothing to do at 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night! What's that? You expect me to comment on how tough Maggie is instead of running down my list of the activities for the night (to the mall with Clara to see the overpriced, darling outfits at Gymboree, to Wendy's for Clara's dinner of fries, and home to clean up after all these boys, do the laundry, dishes, and vacuuming before the Sabbath...)
Maggie is freakin' tough. She's like a monkey how she can climb onto AnYThInG - she's got good upper-body strength for sure. And she's nearly knocked me over more than once trying to weedle her way in between me and SOMETHING, like a chair, toys, and on. And, she's really funny and wacky. Someday Clara and her are going to like playing with each other...I think.
Oh, my GOSH. THE HORSE. Just another thing that ties you to Gin and the Gang. Every one of them learned to walk with the horse. You are horse cousins. And Charlotte was every whit as tough as Mags. She was tougher than Cammon, even. I bet Cammon could beat Mags arm wrestling.
The horse. Oh, my laws. How long ago was all that?
of course she's a tough lady! I expect nothing else from our Magster.
Sorry, that pirate is scary looking to me though, so I must not be near as tough as Maggie.
And nice horse, of course I remember that horse too!
The face is great...gotta love it. I think you should do a post with all her amazing faces and smiles! She is a doll!
Sounds just like my Bridger!!!! I love it! :o)
Maggie is TOUGH I'll have to agree! Good call on the bookshelves! (Where you movin to?)
Arrrgh Matey! She one tough cookie...and it's awesome that she loves that book so much. Just goes to show that you never know what your kids are gonna turn out like. I wish I had thought of the bookshelf thing...maybe with number two I'll remember it!
Maggie may be tough but she's sweet too. On Sunday at Grandma and Grandpa's house she kept coming up to Kolby and watching him. Then she picked up his pacifier and gently put it in his mouth. It was the sweetest thing!!! She is so cute!! It was fun see you guys and spending time with you too. We love you!!!
Oh my!
Is that the pirate book that says 'sometimes pirates cry.'? My mom read a book like that to her class (she's a teacher) and my dad took up issue with that saying, "Pirates don't cry!" and that we try to make everyone emotional even pirates! Anyway. She is a tough girl. She could probably beat up our little mama's boy!
