While Dan was away snow camping, I took the alone time opportunity to make a craft that has been bouncing around my head for many months. At the Beehive Bazaar (the boutique that I look forward to every year...second only to Swiss Days) I saw the cutest paper garlands. But of course they were expensive and of course I thought, "I could do that." And of course I promptly went home and didn't "do that." But now I did.
First, I took these adorable pink glittery letters that Sister-in-law Megan (who is one of the geniuses over at Making Memories) gave me and laid them out until I could figure out what to spell. Then I folded newspaper into cute little round paper fans. I cut out circles of pink paper and pulled out my glue gun and stuck it all together. I am so happy with it. But now I understand why they were selling them for $30. Its a bit of work!
My other new decoration is thanks to my mother. Not only did she buy me the adorable Moda Charm Pack that I used to make this, but she also helped me to lay them out, sew them, and iron them so I could pretend that I know how to quilt. Then after it had sat in my house for nearly a year waiting to be bound, she took pity on me and sewed the binding. Isn't she angelic? And she did that while she watched Maggie and mended a pair of shorts. I am obsessed with that woman.
And Grandma Ras isn't a Valentine decoration, but she's darn sweet enough to be. I am so lucky to be her grandchild and to have lived so close to her my whole life. No one could be sweeter, more righteous, or better in any way. She is slowly succombing to Alzhiemers and the many changes of age, but I still county myself lucky to be her's. I love her with my whole heart. How could I not? She calls me "her beauty!"

That quilt is beautiful. And the letters....breathtaking! Good work to both you and your mother. Why is it that I am part of the most uncrafty family in the whole world? Really it just isn't fair....why couldn't they have been at least a little bit crafty....just a bit?
Oh gosh I LOVE LOVE love the paper garlands. If I pay you $30 will you make me one?
And that's how I quilt too--everyone's always impressed with "my" quilts when they come over. Unfortunately I can't really take any credit for even the ones I "worked" on.
Alright so the last post is all about how "uncool" you are. Good grief could this be just one of the very firm pieces of evidence that that is SO not true! I'm amazed at your crafty/artsy abilities. You are one of the coolest, hippest person I can think of. So you can just stop with the uncool thing right now.
I think grandma Ras is sweet enough to be a valentines decoration too! That sound so funny:o). I love that picture of her and the little girlies. They look so grown up! SO sweet. It makes me miss her and you guys. Maybe we'll see ya all this summer.
Your Grandma Ras, as far as I'm concerned, is the very heart of a Valentine. Wish I'd had one like her.
Love it! I want to make some of those cute letters.... you are just the next Martha Stewart! You go girl!
Nice job on the crafts! I love Moda fabric. My best friend made me a Valentine quilt with the same fabric and I have it on the couch. The letters are so cool! Your mom is the cutest thing ever and you Williams are all so talented. I miss you guys! And, that is such a sweet picture of Grandma. I wish we lived closer....
