School Shenanigans

My sweet Vanessa doesn't speak English. Well, let me take that back, she doesn't speak English besides her color words and mimicing what I say in a very sweet whisper. So, about a month ago when I caught a couple of my stinkers teasing her to tears we had a whole class chat about helping Vanessa. I taught the kids some key phrases in Spanish and things have been going very smoothly ever since. But Thursday Michael reported to me that JT and Vanessa were having an argument. "We might have to talk about 'hola' again," he said. "But don't worry teacher, I'll fix JT and Vanessa back together right after centers." And as promised right after centers little Michael pulled them both aside and had them hug. Problem solved. And I didn't even have to mention 'hola' again!

Alec and Jacob were looking at a book together and Jacob pointed to a picture and said sweetly, "That's Jesus." And Alec turned to look at him and shouted, "No its not! That's the Statue of Liberty!" And that my friends is the separation of church and state.

Lovely. Michael has got a good life ahead, and I do have to say this - if you can't tell the diff between Jesus and the Statue of Liberty . . .
