I can't tell you how much I love this girl. She is a living, moving, breathing, opinionated, and often difficult little being. And I am her mother. Her clueless, stressed, insane, yet doting mother. I had to haul her screaming behind out of sacrament meeting a record 7 times on Sunday. She woke up at 1:30 on Monday night ready to play. She is climbing onto every surface in our apartment and if she still can't reach she'll stand there and scream bloody murder. She is indestractible. I know that's not a word. But she really has a memory like a steel trap. She will remember where you have put things and how to get them back. And she HATES the word no. And though she can be difficult and exasperating...I love her with my whole soul. She is mine.
Here are some of the reasons why Maggie rocks my soul:
- She learned how to kiss this week [my mother takes credit for teaching her saying that she must be so irresistable that Maggie couldn't help but to kiss her]. Anyway, Mags has since kissed me at least 5 times a day. I think she actually likes me.
- Anytime anybody laughs (even on T.V.) she laughs hysterically.
- She can make it through a 4 hour football game without completely losing it. Yes, she partially lost it a couple of times but she slept through the entire 4th quarter and redeemed herself!
- She reminds me how much I love her daddy.
- She can climb into almost any chair and then sit there with a grin as if to say, "Hey everybody did you see how tricky I am?"
- She loves kids of any age and will completely copy everything they do.
- She's gorgeous despite the fact that I tried out my hairdressing skills on her. [Note to self: leave hair cutting to the professionals.]
- She is so much fun to play with! Hide and Seek could entertain her for days.
- She can make her mouth into a perfect little o. And sometimes when you tell her things she'll do it and say "oh!" A though you're answering a question she's always had.
- Already she is a cell phone junkie. She has 4 of them (all of our old ones) and she'll walk around talking on them and then making you talk on them. She'll even pick up anything rectangular and pretend its a phone.
- When I hold her or watch her while she's sleeping I just look at how beautiful and wonderful she is and its overwhelming.
Children really are the greatest invention!

Yes - give a boy a stick, and he'll turn it into a gun. Give a girl a rectangle - and it's inevitable . . .
You make me remember things from a long, long time ago. And you will live through all of this chaos and love - just don't do it too fast.
I agree..children are a great invention!! You write beautifully Megan. When you were writing about everyone else's talents the other day, you should have added humorous, witty and clever storyteller to your name. I love reading your posts and the way you describe ordinary life. Beauiful picture of you and Maggie. I would put it in a frame. You both look so sweet.
First- Maggie is adorable! There really is nothing better that kids, they keep you hoppin' but never a dull moment.
Second- Can I tell you how much I look forward to your kindergarten stories... you are so funny!
Third- look out once they start climbing there's no turning back, they are on to bigger and HIGHER things
Fourth- I just have to say that I think you are so talented! I chuckled when I read your post about playing the piano... I think you do AWESOME! More importantly- you are willing to do it and I am grateful for the spirit you bring into relief society.
Finally- You are the WORLDS BEST VISITNG TEACHER! I am constantly impressed with your sweetness, cleverness-probably not a word, sorry-, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help. Thank you for the example!
I LOVE that picture of you a Maggie at the beginning of this post. It's so beautiful.
And I agree--kids really are the best. I just hope I get to meet that Maggie before she's in high school. :)
It's a good thing kids are cute because sometimes it's really the one reason why I don't pull out the duct tape and tape them to the wall for a nice long break :).
Your Maggie is adorable and I love that she slept under the bleachers at the game...NICE! She's at the fun stage where she's starting to explore emotions and her independence...I use the word Fun loosely..depending on the situation.
PS when michael pushed toby's tray off the table in the middle of toby's divorce story i laughed so hard, I admit, I did rewind twice to watch it all play out again :D
They are the best invention ever! I wonder how I ever lived without them! Well, a lot less diapers was a perk of pre-babyhood! :0)
Maggie really is adorable. I think you should have at least 10 kids!
