How To Make Tie Dye Shirts

What wearable craft screams "Summer?" Tie dyed t-shirts that's what.

I am in charge of planning weekly activities for the 12-13 year old girls at church, and last week they squealed and shrieked with excitment when I told them we'd be making tie dye shirts. I didn't think anything less than Justin Bieber himself could get that kind of a reaction, but this did it.

I bought a kit from Michael's craft store (40% off! thanks to a coupon from my mother-in-law) and everything was included in it--dye, gloves, rubber bands, instructions. Everybody did their own thing and everybody had a blast. I was going to make a tie dye tutorial for the blog, but seriously, my tutorial is this: go buy the Tulip brand kit from a craft store.

Now I can't stop thinking about buying another kit to make tie dye shirts for all my friends--it was that much fun.

My younger kids are crazy about tie-dye shirts. I was looking forward to getting a tutorial on your blog, yet a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to do it. "Buy the kit" is TOTALLY UP MY ALLEY!!!! Awesome. And, BTW, those are some seriously cute shirts (+ pillowcase) your girls made! The one with the black is my favorite. And I can DO "buy the kit."

Megs-This brought a rush of memories from when we did this as young women for camp or whatever we did as a young woman's group. Good times!! I'm glad the tradition lives on. :)
