Word for 2011

Last year I started a new tradition of choosing a word for the year. I look at it as kind of a motto and resolution all in one. This year, the theme for the youth of our church is the 13th Article of Faith. The Articles of Faith were written by Joseph Smith as a summary of the basic principles we Mormons believe.

The 13th article is amazing. It talks about what we believe in being like. Or more specifically, what I want to be like:

I pulled my "word for 2011" from the last phrase.

My word is "Seek."

I'm going to seek things that are of good report.
I'm going to seek ways to better myself and my family.
I'm going to seek to be more benevolent.

What is your word for 2011?
I'd love to compile a list of them.

"Seek" is a fine word, but then I can't find much to complain about the rest of the words in the 13th Article of Faith. I have two words for 2011 - Get Published. I'm a little closer since I found an editor. Good things come to those who refuse to take 'no' for an answer.

I've been thinking a lot about this too this new years. I think my word is going to be "BREATH" I sometimes expect my kids to act like little adults and they can't and I get mad. This time next year I'm going to be all peace, calm, and tranquility.

Seek is quite excellent, I really like it. I've almost got mine figured out (thanks to your inspiration. when you encouraged me to do it last year it was really good for me, and I thought about it a lot and it helped me through). I'll come back once I've got it done.

I'm going with "Finish" as my word. Finish the laundry, the dishes, the projects. I love your word, Megan. Happy New Year!

I love this idead and I've been thinking about it. I am going with BELIEVE!! Believe in things happening, believe we can do it, believe we can change things, believe in each other...that's our word. Believe :) Thanks for your great ideas and your inspirations!!!

Deliberate. As in, to parent with deliberateness, plan and make things happen that I want to happen instead of just letting life always flow. I've got to make sure the things get done that are important, and not just assume I'll get to it someday.
