What Was Good Today, Part 1

Today, my man Dan turned in his master's thesis. As in, the durn thing is finally done. Really done. I'm so happy I could cry. In celebration we went to Braza Grill for lunch (you know one of those Brazilian restaurants where they bring piles and piles of meat to your table and let you eat as many fried bananas as you could ever desire). What I love about going to those places (besides the fried bananas) is that Dan starts to falar portugues (speaka the Portuguese) and then he's being so adorable and loveable and making such a fuss about how delicious the food is that we really start to get treated especially nice by the entire staff.  And then I start saying stuff like "Muito obrigada" which I think means "thanks so much" and "Tudo bem," which is just what you say if you need to say something in Portuguese, and then they're like, "Oh look at the white chick from Provo, she's trying SO HARD." And then they kind of like me too.

You are SO funny!! :) The Brazilian restaurant sounds awesome, but not quite as much as the portugues! :) I'm so glad you went & celebrated!! YAY! Congrats to both (all 5?) of you on Dan's thesis being DONE! So exciting!!

How many Brazilian restaurants are there in Provo?! I've been to Tucano's but haven't heard of this one. Hm. Now that we've tried out almost all the Italian restaurants in town, we'll start on the Brazilian. But maybe we should take you and Dan...

AH! I know that feeling of getting that Master's thesis in...I just went through that with Marcus' dissertation. After 5 long years of hard work and so much sacrifice, I was just so proud of him when he finished and submitted it. But then there was the defense! Woa. He passed, so phew. PhD -- check. Congratulations to Dan...and you!:)

I'm behind on blogging, congratulations! I know you have been waiting for that for a very, very long time.

Yeah. I was going to finish my Master's too - until I found out that BYU had evidently reabsorbed my twenty five credits of total sweat - because, I guess, Beowulf has changed in the last thirty years, and I was translating the one from 800 AD instead of the - new one???? Not in love with higher education. But I hope he gets his degree. If it's at the Y, give me the names of his committee, and I'll send threatening letters. I was looking for an excuse anyway -
