Blow your Diet for Breakfast

I've been counting calories and working hard every weekday for the past 3 weeks. But I really blew it for breakfast this morning. I got together with friends from church, and I brought buttermilk syrup and Paula Deen's cream cheese fruit dip. No. Those two items don't exactly fit into the diet plan. But, if you're ready to blow your diet, too, here are the recipes:

Buttermilk Syrup:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sugar
Bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes,
stirring often. Then add:
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
Stir until foam decreases and then serve over warm pancakes or waffles. Yum!

  •  8 oz. package of cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 lemon zested and juiced
  • pineapple juice
Blend softened cream cheese with powdered sugar. In a separate bowl mix whipping cream with granulated sugar until soft peaks form. Mix cream cheese and whipping cream together and add lemon juice and zest. Add pineapple juice until desired consistency is reached. Serve with a variety of fruit.

We fed the elders this week and I made this syrup. I serve it with french toast, strawberries and whipped cream. It's so good! A very tasty way to blow that diet. :)

Holy smokes, does that sound good. I'm thinkin' it's a good thing to blow your calorie counting RIGHT UP FRONT so you don't have to worry about it the rest of the day. :)
I don't watch her, so this is second-hand, but my favorite Paula Deen quote is, "I'm your cook, honey, not your doctor!"
