Our house is dark and boring from the outside. We just couldn't bring ourselves to put up Christmas lights when we're busy wiping 3 little runny noses and shoveling 18 feet of snow (okay, probably less than that. Maybe 17 feet). But we've been loving looking at the festive lights our neighbors have put up, so we decided to give back a little bit.
I got the idea from {here}. Tonight we drove around the neighborhood and chose our favorite light display--then we awarded them with a certificate and a bag of mint m&ms (making a hand made treat seemed a little too ambitious on a day like today).

What a good idea!!! How fun! (I think handmade goodies are WAY too much to expect. Seriously. Bag of M-n-Ms is entirely appropriate!)
That does sound fun. We're about the only non-lit house on our street too, and I feel a little bad about it, but I DO enjoy the neighbors' displays!
Megolyl! That's a great one!
I love that idea!!! What a fun family outing!! We might just have to steal your idea...Love you.
What a darling idea. I love it, and what a fun activity....awesome :)
We never put up lights and I always feel like we're not giving cheer like the other neighbors. I LOVE that idea to award somebody. I hope I can get around to doing that. So great!
p.s. I love Coleman's tired smile. All your kids are so cute.
I shoulda sent you over to Lehi to see my brothers MEGA MONSTER LIGHT AND MUSIC SHOW. he loves tech and he loves lights (which is what you get when your parents never put any up on your house growing up - it's really come out in Mike and me). He's probably still got it up there, but I've sworn off going outside again till the middle of April.
Hey - my word is alicat!!!
