Maggie the Street Urchin

My sweet girl Maggie must think she's neglected. She's not. But lately she's been coming up to me while I'm cooking dinner or feeding the boys and making this really pathetic face where she shuts her eyes half way and looks really desperate and says "Mommy, I have some food? Pease? Food?"

Yeah. She asks for food. Not a banana or cheerios, or fishy crackers or stuff she used to ask for. She asks for food. It sounds so horrible like she's starving to death or something. And when I ask her what kind of food she wants, she'll put her head down on the floor or the table and just repeat "Food, Mommy."

Bless her. I feed her all day long. Really.

Food, it's a glorious thing. I'm with Mag's. Just give me food. I don't care what. Just give me food.

I take that back. I do care.

Chocolate.....just give me chocolate.......

reminds me of Cammon calling your mom to ask for some breakfast cereal. You're as mean as my parents.

But you got the wrong urchin - that's the Dodger. You want Oliver his own little seff. I wish Cammon had NEVER done such a thing as Gin said he did. I never knew about it, but for your mother never giving it a rest for decades. I'm going to his house to slap him in the head, right now. Maybe Mags is going through a growth spurt. They do these things.

Kristen, kids do embarrassing things like that all the time. Not just Cam. Oh the things my kindergarteners used to tell me about their home life... their parents would die.

too funny!

i remember once while i was in the grocery store, and keenan was a wee little lad, sitting in the cart, getting tired of waiting. apparently he was STARVING and I was pregnant and feeling like crap - and I know I looked like Crap. And I was there with my WIC coupons (oh, yeah!) and we were probably both lookin' the street urchin part - and of course the wee little lad couldn't help but say, loudly, causing nearly everyone in the aisle to turn in my direction and throw me pity looks, as he stuck his lower lip out and sort of cocked his head, asked, "Mommy, will we get to eat today?" I replied, in a British Accent, of course, "Yes, child. I will put the porridge on as soon as we get back to the flat." Then I had to high-tail it outta there before I busted up laughing... kids...too funny!

Oh my heavens! That is hilarious! She's not a drama queen at all, is she?

She is growing up and that is so cute! At least she is asking for food...not licorice, gum, candy, lip gloss, dress up shoes, fruit snacks, jelly beans, and all the other things that will rot her gums, etc. Cuz then she'd be a Rasmussen. Count your blessings.
;-) Just kidding! I couln't help but put the things OUR kids love! Love you Megs!
