Bloom Where You Are Forced

Something I love to do in the late winter is force blossoms.  I learned it from Martha Stewart when I was in high school. No, not like she personally taught me, I think I read it in her magazine. Anyway, each winter I would look for the little leaf-buds to develop on my mom's forsythia bush and then I'd cut some and bring them inside where they'd open (it takes about a week).

But now I don't have a forsythia. Nope. I'm going to plant one here 'cause its my favorite (how can you not feel good looking at a big yellow plant that's killing itself to grow flowers just to make the world happy?)  but I haven't gotten around to it.

So this year I just hacked a branch off my cherry tree. The blossoms opened yesterday--aren't they cheery?

So cheery. It makes me happy just to look at them! I want to do that too.

I always mean to do this. Maybe I'll "borrow" some of my mom's forsythia (I love it too) and give it a try. And, my crocuses (croci?) are in bloom today!

What if you really want to force something to "bloom" and you've done dang near everything and STILL despite all your best efforts...

Nothing.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I Love Ya...tomorrow. You're only a day away!

;D

Okay - I didn't know you could DO that. How long have I been asleep in the world? And I love the title. It's extremely thought provoking. So you can actually force hope? Yeah. I like that.
