28 is the loneliest number that you'll ever do...

Okay, maybe it's not that bad. But it seems like an old age to be. In fact, its the oldest age I've ever been. Alarming isn't it? Birthdays will do that to you.

But last night I had a party. Grandpa planned it. He'd been fussing about the party plans for weeks now wanting everything to be perfect: the ham, the salads, the rolls, the cake. And Grandpa, it was superb. My best friend/cousin Becca, Grandpa, and I have birthdays during the same week--so we celebrated together. Beth outdid herself with the cupcakes. I'll have to get a picture of them from her. My word.

And tonight I'm going on a date with my man, and our {governess Cam} is going to be watching the sleeping babes. And I have cash to spend on a haircut and new clothes in the near future. So life is looking good, albeit old.

You want to know though, what would be a good present? comments. I'd like to hear from everybody who stops by today. Just let me know who you are or what you're thinking or how you came to read this or what you think about life... Yeah. That'd be a good present.

The above picture is me, in much younger days, with an older brother, sister, and two dear friends. I look quite serious. I must have known, at that tender age, that one day I would be 28 and totally freaking out about it. Anyway, thanks Kristen for the picture. Sorry I stole it, from {here}.

Hooray for 28! Megs, you are the best and I'm so glad that we are friends. I sorely miss those days in 6th grade when we would have gymnastic competitions but am so glad those aren't our last memories together. You're the best - hang in there. I've been living this 28th year for 3 months now and it isn't so bad - once you get the hang of it.

Happy Birthday Megan. I love you. Don't feel guilty that you were my hardest birth and that I limp badly because of it. I'm kidding about the limp part and now that I ponder on this a bit you weren't the worst to birth--it was your brothers. I've put that all behind me and I love you with all my heart. You have grown into an amazing person and I truly love being around you. You always make the party.

Happy Birthday! I went to school with Dan, and have loved getting to know you through your blog. My daughter is about the same age as Maggie, and I have an almost one year old son, so I love your kid stories. I hope you have a great day! If you want to make some fun little cupcakes (or have someone make them for you) you should check out Bakerella's cake pops. They aren't too hard to make, and tons of fun. www.bakerella.com (if you haven't seen it, I think you would like it!)

I never can resist leaving a comment when there is a shout out to us blogstalkers. My SIL, Kati Baxter, referred me to your blog awhile ago, something about cupcakes (which I'm passionate about) Anyway, Happy Birthday!

28 is a good year to be, believe me! I'm 34--almost 35...which is practically 40! I think I'd much rather be 28 right about now! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Megan! You are one of the most hilarious people I have ever met! I hope you have a magically delicious day filled with marshmallow fantasies :)

Happy Birthday Meg's. 28 wasn't bad for me. Last year was when I turned 35 cuz it was ALMOST 40! I feel like I'm about 21. How can I be inching my way to 40 and married to someone over 40 who is still 25 himself???? (He was 25 when I married him. He hasn't aged a day since the butt head while I've aged twice my age).

My friend Katy convinced me today that fresh flowers are essential and for the first time I read your side bar where it says that blogging for you is a coping mechanism. I like you both. Hurrah for the blogosphere!

There IS something rather uncomfy about 28! It's like... adult. Not old. But adult. Like, not college age any more :) Like, my sis eight years younger has a completely different frame of reference than me... but I wouldn't give any years back. Happy B day!

28 isn't so bad. It's a lot like 27. 26 seems like it was pretty fun, but it's hard to remember. Anyway, Happy birthday! Huzzah!

Happy Birthday Megan!! I'll try to make Dan leave early today! LOL. 28 is NOTHING, you could be a real old timer like me!

Happy Birthday! I'd like you to know that you have inspired me to become reacquainted with cupcakes. I had some really good ones from One Cupcake that were a gift last week. REALLY GOOD! I'm thinking of checking out some of the places you've mentioned. Oh and if you're ever in Portland and need a good cupcake shop, I know a GREAT place!

Megan. I know what you mean about the the birthdays lately. I'll be 29 this year and let me tell you, its sobering!!! Sometimes I still feel like I could walk down the halls at PHS and nothing will have changed since I left 10 years ago and other times it feels like a different life altogether. Anyway, enjoy 28 cause 29 is only one away from 30. Huppy Birtday.

Happy Happy Birthday Megan Dear! I don't think I'll ever forget your b-day because of that year in Mr. Gribble's class when you kept saying over and over--"march 24 sunday is my birthday." Well, even though today is Tuesday- it's still a pretty good day to have a b-day! I hope it's the best ever. And don't worry- I had the same feelings when I turned 28. EXCEPT that in about 7 months I'll be 29...which is way way worse.

Egga-Megga! Do you remember that I used to call you that? Do you also remember that you were my very best friend in elementary school? I am looking at that picture of you when you were but a tot and laughing because that is how I remember you! Do you remember the song we wrote about the poor little boy named Dan who lived in a garbage can? I do! OOOOOH I do! I can write out all the lyrics for you if you want. Just give me the word. Seriously though, we were so dang funny when we were little! We always had the same sense of humor and after reading your posts and comments, I am happy to see that nothing has changed.

So Happy birthday old lady! 28 is a cruel number. You can rest easy knowing that I'm turning 29 this year! NOOOO! Help me Rhonda!

Happy Birthday Megan! You are definitely not old and I am the expert on old since I turn 35 next month. Just think, you got an early start on life and you can boot your kids out of the house when you turn 46! Does that help you feel not old? Probably not...Happy Birthday anyway. Your blog always makes me smile!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEG!!!! I think you should definitely treat yourself to some primping and a nice night out with your man. Just think of how much you have accomplished in these 28 years and all that you have ahead of you!!!

P.S. I love your alarming realization that this is the oldest age you have ever been. Haha! I'm with ya!!

Happy Birthday! 28 was a hard one for me to swallow...until I realized that I still act like I'm 18 :)

28 didn't bug me. 30 didn't bug me, though i thought it would. however - 32? yeah. for some reason that one hurt. probably cuz keenan started with the Young Men at church and was in JR HIGH all at the same time. boy - did I feel old!!! now - i am just praying that IF I get married before 40 - maybe I will get to have another baby... just maybe. and then i think - Crap! my mom was a grandma at 39!!! good thing my oldest is a boy with plans for a mission. Don't want to be that stereotypical UTAH MOM breast-feeding my baby at my other kid's wedding! lol!

anyway - happy bday! miss you and i am hoping you're still planning on coming up for G.N.O.!!!

glad your bday was fun! I sort of want to do one of those cheesy theme parties this year for myself...tee hee!

Remind Dan to make your birthday last at least a week. It's the Williams way. Feel free to redeem your coupon any time you guys want.
IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY! EAT IT!!

You should feel young--I was trying to figure out your age based on my age when we went to Mexico (which was hard because I couldn't remember and then had to try and figure out what year we went) and I pegged you at 29. Congrats--you're a year younger this birthday! Happy BDay!!

I love birthdays. Any excuse to eat a luscious homemade and chocolate heavy chocolate cake is fine with me.

Cupcakes, I hate to tell you, are a little too fluffy for me. Cake, now that's a perfect food.

Old? You? Hardly. Look at me, I turn the ripe old age of 43 this year. :)

Hope you have a very Happy Birthday. Never let your age bother you, embrace and enjoy life to its fullest everyday and you will never care what the calendar says.

Happy Birthday Megan!! 28 seemed old to me too. But, it's better than realizing that you're only going to be able to tell people that you're 29 for 3 more months and then you'll have to say you're 30! I'm not looking forward to the big 3-0. I laughed so hard about the McDonald's post. I could even hear the way you would say some of those puns. So funny! Thanks for the laughs. I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Happy birthday sweet thang! 28 isn't old, 29 is. Believe me. :)
Wish I could come and party with you. We'll have to do it next time I'm there. And I'll give you a bunch of big frosting roses and watch you to make sure you eat them.
LOVE YOU!!

I didn't until this week...I guess its an ok spot my hairs cover it pretty good...but still weird!!! May your 28th year bring you lots of giggles, dates with your MAN, and no pimples in your eyebrow. ;)

Wow! What a lot of comments! Happy Birthday. I hope you have a fantastic time on your date...alone. It will be a wonderful feeling to miss the babies.
I turned 30 on Saturday! 30 is old, but ya know I feel the same. Sometimes I think I could fit back in with all the girls dressed up for prom! I got to go out with my man alone, and I had to remind myself to miss the babes. Enjoy your day and your night and the rest of the year!

I love the way you write...the way you express yourself. Your children are adorable...and I find your insights about motherhood and every day life clever and delightful. You make me smile.

Happy Birthday. 28 is a big number...but it only gets better from there. Seriously.
And what a happy life you have! Awesome isn't it!

Your welcome to stalk my blog as well....anytime. :)

Well Happy birthday girl!!! My thoughs.... hmmm.... I really should have taken the time to take the big ($17) bag of chocolate chips down to the food storage as opposed to tossing it down the stairs. That was a huge mess to clean up and a waist... I should a really taken the time...

Happy, happy birthday, Megs! I hope 28 isn't old, because I'll be 27 in a month. I love ya!

K said...

Oh, Megs - let me tell you, because I know, how many, many wonderful years you have in front of you. The number 28 sounds significant, I know, because you aren't used to being a grown-up yet. But numbers mean nothing - it's your heart, your spirit and your sense of humor from now on that determine how old you really are. And you will be young for a very, very long time. You'll feel tons younger as Maggie gets older, I promise.

Happy birthday. I meant it when I offered to shoot pictures of you and Dan or you and the kids. I am WAY better now than I was back in the day. What a blessing it is to know you - like having you give me a present every time i find some new perspective on the world through your wild little brain!

Blessings!! And consider that little portrait a birthday gift!

Yeah, I'm late too, but Happy Birthday! And wow....I can't even remember 28! I know I was busy will small children....ummmm, yeah. But like K said, as an adult age is mearly a number, and it's all on how you feel! Don't stress the "NUMBERS". Because I'm creeping up on the big FIVE-O and that SOUNDS so old...now I realize that theres still LOTS of life left! Again, Happy Birthday!

Buddy! Sorry I'm late about the message, but I love to walk down memory lane and visit your blog. Good times. So we are moving to Bountiful this week. Didn't Dan grow up in Woods Cross? I really like it there and I want to buy a house there. We are moving to save some cash for a few months so we can buy my dream home. Another thing, I'm setting up John with an old roommate of mine. He's all excited. I'll let you know how it goes! Hope you had a wonderful birthday. Tune into my blog, I'm updating on some sugar ideas!
