Family Night to Remember

On Monday Night, this guy taught us about the creation of the world. But not just that. He pulled out a geological map of the Salt Lake Valley he made for his thesis project. Then the man explained how blessed we are to be here because of the soils and rocks that the area is made of. God saved this place for a long time before we all got here, he said. He let the land soak under Lake Bonneville and then he let it drain leaving all sorts of deposits that solidified over time. And now we have cheap gravel for purchase. That's basically what I learned. I guess when we talk about God separating the land from the water, I usually don't consider all that must have entailed like Sandy Silts and Silty Clays and Fat Clays and Silty Sands and other dirt. (Did I miss some, Dan?)

After the discussion, we colored. Maggie didn't feel like dressing up for the occasion. She rarely feels like dressing at all, let's be honest. I'm just happy I'd been able to wrestle her into a diaper.

But she always is up for emulating her daddy, the engineer genius, by placing a pencil behind her ear. A pencil behind the ear instantly adds 60 points to your I.Q.

Maggie is so cute.
That sounds like a fun FHE.
We finally got to where we could do it, once we were both done with school. And it's been great for us. Max loves it and even though the lessons are oh so short and sweet they still do us all some good I think.

What a cute family. Did you sing the family night song?
Hey, everybody, it's family night.
We better take the phone off the hook.
C'mon everybody to family night. I've already got the family night book. (best part=disco beat)

I always wondered why we had such amazing gravel in Utah.

I am glad that I am not the only one who has an engineer husband that constantly talks about stuff that I know nothing about or really care to know a lot about. Silly engineers...........

Sounds like a FHE not to be missed. That is awesome! :) And, yes, I think a pencil behind your ear adds 60 IQ points. Twelve pencils in a pocket protector adds 142, I believe. (That'll be for when she's older and wears clothes.) ;)

I knew there was a reason I did that. I even do it at church. Genious! She must be yours. Well, we can give Dan some credit too!
