Are You Kidding Me?

You know its a bad sign when the first words out of your mouth at your 20 week ultrasound are, "Are you freakin' kidding me?" I knew something looked different when the ultrasound started and there were two masses on the sides of the screen as opposed to one mass in the middle. But I still didn't consider twins until the tech told us thats what we were seeing. We sat there stunned the whole time the tech took measurements and figured out that they are both boys, identical twin boys.
We had never seriously considered the possibility of twins. We joked about it and laughed about it, but now we find ourselves with an 18 month old and two babies on the way. Terrified is probably the mood that describes us best, although we are excited and happy about it as well. But if we thought we were poor now, just wait. And last night I woke up in a panic just trying to figure out how one would nurse 2 babies while still finding time to sleep and maybe even shower. Okay, not shower, just sleep. I'll just sponge myself down with wet wipes in between diaper changes.
Our doctor told us we'd best invest in a mini van. But our Carolla was supposed to last us through till the next child came along! We'll have to make do with the cars we have. So, I just came to the conclusion that we're not going anywhere. Dan can pick up the groceries. And they broadcast Sacrament Meeting on PBS. People can come visit us. So we'll do fine just staying home. I can't even imagine how I'd get three babies in a grocery cart or carried into a doctor's office. But I'm sure I'll figure it out.
We are in for a wild ride, but we're so excited. It makes sense now why Dan felt so strongly that I needed to quit teaching. And if anybody sees a sale on baby stuff, let us know. We'd better start stocking up.

I thought _I_ was the one who was supposed to have twins...but I guess that was merely for Cam's sake...and it was all supposed to transpire while he was mission-ing. So, I guess my uterus isn't ultimate. All I've ever been able to conjure up is one baby at a time. Man, I'm such a failure! Idiot! Geez!
I don't like them twins. I don't like their attitude. And, Maggie is also contracted out to be my house servant for the next two years while ya'll twin-n-ize. (I can make up words almost as good as George W., huh?) She'll be a little Cinderella to Clara's uppity, ridiculous requests for meals, washing and pedicures.

Wow! I was so shocked to read that but so pumped for you! If anyone can do this, you guys can! Time to get online and form a "mother of twins and a toddler" support group,to start stocking up on advice from mothers of twins!Man, so exciting, what a surprise!

Oh my GOODNESS Megan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could just keep on with the exclamation points and that might say it better than words. Holy cow! I mean it's awesome but....WOW....Oh WOW........I'm speechless.....I can't even imagine how you and Dan are feeling! It's a big enough step to decide that you're ready for two.....let alone three! You're going to need a wet nurse if you plan on even attempting to breast feed two!!!! You can do it though...I mean look at our Mom's example they handled 28-30 at the same time, and you too! OK, totally not the same I know but I am trying to make you feel better. I am probably just making it worse....but seriously if you need anything (I'm sure I am far down on the list of helpers....but you're going to need a long one), please let me know. I mean it.

Wow megan, that is so exciting. I just can't figure out why your prior appointments didn't pick up two heart beats. don't they usually catch that by 20 weeks. What do I know, I've never had twins, but I just assumed you would know from the beggining!

Oh my goodness that's incredible!!! I can't believe it! Oh they are going to be so adorable. I'm excited for you, and if I'm around, I'll help. I promise.

OH MY GOODNESS! What a surprise? Did they not hear two heartbeats earlier on? Did you even have a clue that you were having twins?

Goodness. Since Scott never reads your blog I'll let him know. If we have extra boy stuff we'll send it your way! Sorry we can't help out with the car situation.

Holy cow Megs! This is totally unbelievable!! I guess Dan really wanted to jump ahead and not just even things out. This is so cool!! I know you're going to do amazingly well! I've stuck three kids in car seats in our corolla and it's kind of hard to shut the door, but they fit. With the nursing, I don't think bottles are the end of the world. Now you really do need to move down here. I'm so excited to see these sweet boys and I'll help you! Well let's be honest I'm going to be the one who needs the help even though I'll only have one new one.

You will do great, I can just imagine all of the fun that you'll have! Congratulations again!

Oh Seester, I told Mom I'd be your live-in governess and I'd dress them kids up in lederhosen and they'd answer to a whistle, they would. It's the least I can do since I'm not really contributing any babies to the Williams grandkid fund at present. Good luck, Seester.

Megs. You are a genius. This way you can only have half the pregnancies but still produce the same amount of kids. Your always thinking megs....impressive. I think it is WONDERFUL! I will send Sam and James over anytime to play with them while you and I can just talk and talk.

Remember me? From HS and church? My parents still live around the corner from yours.

I found you through Ginna. Congrats on the twins! I think that terrifying sums up what I would be feeling. My advice: Ask for help, even if you don't want to. Good luck!

Megan...I just have to tell you. I am already 100% addicted to your blog. Here is how I know: It is currently 12:05 am, I am sitting in bed with my lap top, reading your blog, with my sleeping 6 week old beside me, Shon is at Youth Conference...I really REALLy....REALLY should be sleeping, cause heaven only knows I will be up soon to feed, and then up again at the crack of dawn with Scoty, but nope, here I am....reading away, laughing to myself, because I do not want to wake this baby up....and loving every minute of it, I think I need to finish this later. Oh, did I mention that you are HILARIOUS?? I love your posts, they make me smile and laugh, and I think you are going to do wonderfully with these twins, I know you live in lehi now, but if you need ANYTHING, anything at all, Maggie needs to get away, or YOU need her to get away, please please call, Scoty would love to have a play date....ok, well they cant date for another 16 year or something, but you know what i mean. I am so excited to see pics of these little guys, it will be great!
