Our doll

Maggie is really something. She loves to sing. We found this out at church when the chorister cut us off at the end of the hymn and everybody stopped singing but Maggie. One day she was playing in her room and she turned on the stereo. Whitney Houston was belting, "I will always love yooooooooooooooooooooooou" and Maggie started singing right along with her. I felt the love. Maggers will mimic almost any sound she hears. Just yesterday she sneezed and I said "bless you!" She turned to me and said "Ble! Ble!" Now, any 10 month old who can manage such a consonant blend ought to be able to manage "Mama." But not this one. She will not even try. She'll mimic anything else but when I say "Say Mama!" She just laughs at me.

I'm thinking that Maggie was supposed to be born to Manuel and Guadalupe Sanchez in Mexico City but took a wrong turn in El Paso and ended up in Woods Cross. I say this because her favorite tunes are "La Bamba" and "Cielito Lindo" and when she eats chocolate ice cream she looks like Napoleon's pal Pedro. But we sure love our little singing Mexican. We should build her a cake or something.

I just love being able to keep in touch with you a little bit, it's sad to be so far away and to lose touch with all the important people, you know?
