Green Smoothie Time

Some afternoons, I get a hankerin' for something sweet. Who am I kidding? That happens every afternoon. So, lately instead of making cookies, I've been making smoothies.

A banana, frozen cherries, blueberries, and strawberries, a splash of 100% apple juice, and a handful of spinach. I love it. And the kids do, too.

(I don't think they know about the spinach.)

What a great idea--the spinach! I'm going to have to try that. I love that pic of Maggie licking her lips. Too cute.

Before I got pregnant and was actually trying to lose weight, I would make a protein shake every morning and it was green from spinach. Everyone that has seen me drink them is so grossed out that it is green, even Hailey! I can't believe you got them to drink it! I think they are delicious!!

If you want a real green smoothie, I know a place that sells greenbeans and milk blended together. SO.GOOD! YUM!

I love afternoon smoothies--my secret--a frozen banana. It makes it more smooth rather than slushie.

I used to feed the kids this kind of thing for actual dinner sometimes. I just hope it didn't lean them toward heavy bodies later, because fruit and fruit juice are WAY high in sugar. I used yogurt, too. Spinach is good, but the iron is kelated in, so you can't count on that. But this is better than cookies, huh? And tastes great.
