Goal of the Week

Dan and I went over our finances and reviewed our budgeting progress this month. Somehow it would seem I've found myself spending money at Walmart 2-3 times per week. Add that up and the amount of money I've thrown at the Walmart cashiers this month is a hefty sum. Why Walmart? They have enormous grocery carts that hold 3 children, strawberries for 88 cents a pound, cheap party supplies, $ 3 children's t-shirts for stenciling, and air conditioning. So I guess that's kind of why I've been there. But that is going to stop.

I vow not to go to Walmart at all this week. Not even once.

Excellent goal if I say so myself. What's your goal of the week?

a goal like that causes rapid shallow breathing.
I have the same walmart problem. I can't imagine going a whole week without stopping in.
The air conditioning alone is worth it. :)
GOOD LUCK! Need me to grab anything for you while I'm there

Okay, Walmart is the staple of my life. Save $1 on a box of cereal alone vs. other stores. I agree with you about the prices and the mongo shopping carts. I actually limit myself to one shopping trip per week. Not just one Walmart trip, but one grocery trip period--it's only because I find that I can't get anything done at home if I've gone out anywhere during the day. It's just me. I can either go OUT and get things done or stay IN and get things done, but not both. Anyhoo, I'm just hearin' ya on this one. It's the shopping carts and the prices. And the air conditioning. Hard to stay away.

How have I NOT seen you there? I myself am there 2-3 times a week. I'm trying to make it only once a week as well. We'll see...

I'm trying to eat healthy today, so I'd like to see if I could eat a bathtubful of beans.

My goal is to get my 3 year old to participate in swim lessons at least once. I'm hoping she'll doing SOMETHING so I don't feel like I wasted $42.

Megan, I usually go to walmart 1-2 times per month. I know that's crazy. I make a calendar menu for the entire month. mostly the main courses.
I then make a list from the menu of what items I will need to make for each lunch and dinner. I then add items that are running low or completely out of.

This helps with the budget and helping figure out what to eat every meal. I have been doing it for a year now and have noticed I spend less money each month at the grocery store.

I'm jumping on my WalMart soapbox . . . maybe you shouldn't have gotten me started?

Ahem.

I haven't been to the dreaded BIG BOX in 3.5 years. I swore them off after a horrible customer service experience. Now I shop for groceries at *gasp* a grocery store and non-grocery stuff at Target. And I spend less money than I did when I shopped at WalMart. My Target trips are much less frequent, so I have lots less opportunity to leave the store with things that weren't on my list. My grocery store has a lot less to tempt me in the way of extra stuff, so those end up costing less, too, over all, even if the food costs a little more.

I am liberated!

If I want to make my Husband's eyes roll, I suggest we got to Walmart anytime we're out on a date. It's too funny, he hates the place and says I give too much money to Sam.

Oh my gosh. I have to make that same goal every week. The problem is, I don't usually make it. Well, no, actually, I make it all right. I make it to Wal-Mart 3-4 times that week instead of 2-3. I think I might be an addict. If you find a support group to join I would love to be a member!
