Why Not to Let Your Kids Take a Whiz at the Park

Two weeks ago, before we left to play group at a potty-less park, I asked Maggie, "DO YOU NEED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM?" She didn't. So off we went.

Not 5 minutes into the park playtime, she comes running at me in a cross-legged hobble saying, "Gotta go potty! Gotta go potty!"

So, I did what I thought was bright at the time and took her to pee behind a tree.

Only problem is, today while playing in the backyard she wanted a repeat.

I guess I can't really blame her, dropping your pants in the wild is much faster than the whole wiping, flushing, hand washing and drying routine. Sanitation can be such a bother.

My biggest fear, though, is that I'll find her trying to go in a corner of the living room or in her closet.

Rachel, who's 5 likes to "go" out in the garden. When I accuse her of just wanting to pee on the weeds, she giggles. *sigh*

probably not a big deal now... but when she's like in her late 20's, looking for a dark corner in a parking garage... oh, wait. That's a Seinfeld episode! hahaha!

That is too funny. I was never brave enough to let my daughter do anything like that because I was afraid it would end up all over her pants (so why not just wet your pants to begin with?). I'm amazed you could even DO that! Good on ya!

HAH! Hilarious because Kris did that with Max one day and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't ok to do outside at home. I was so mad at Kris because he could've taken him to the bathroom the time he took him to a tree, but didn't bother. Way to open up a can of worms!!
So funny :)
The worst though was when we were at Disneyworld (wow I don't know why I'm even telling you this, it's so embarrassing) and we were swimming. Max got out of the pool, then crouched down just a touch and suddenly there was all this water running down his legs...I mean he was wet and dripping but this was obviously something more. I was SO mad. It was really humiliating. Ick.

My kids pee and poo all over the carpet and then smear it on the walls pretty much all the time. My boy pees in the garbage can right next to the toilet. He also peed on the front step on the back patio (why not in the grass??? WHY???) Good luck to you. I hate all things potty related.

Yes. Yes, and so it begins. There was a wet spot downstairs in our unfinished (thank goodness) basement the other day for similar reasons. And then Sam tells me about how he and his brothers used to just spray down the heater vent when they didn't feel like going all the way upstairs to the bathroom . . . *sigh*. I guess you can't be too angfvvy about it.

Actually, you might. We had to work with my Bro for YEARS on that issue. He doesn't do it anymore. I think he'd quit by the time he started teaching seminary.

Ha! I totally took Grant's potty chair with me EVERYWHERE for 2 weeks when he was in that phase. It was my emergency potty in trunk!

On a Sunday past, I was havin' an after-church chatsky in the parking lot with a little cohort of amusing folk...when I saw a little girl I'm fond of (age 3), squat on the lawn in front of the chapel in a position that was unmistakably one for the doing of biznessssss. Sure enough, her father was soon scampering in her direction - to do what, I'm not sure; form a human shield so we all couldn't see the ending? It was really too late for stopping it.

Best part: she didn't pull her stockings down.

Apparently: Grass = okay to said little girl. "Grass anywhere", even.

christopher loves camping for this reason. When he was being potty trained, after a time at the park, or camping, he had to go to the bathroom, so he went on the cement foundation outside our open front door. ahhhh! how many more seconds would it have taken to run into the bathroom-all the doors were open!

haha, ok, two things about this, when we went to St. george at the beginning of the month we had to stop on the side of the road for scoty, well now, i swear he lies to me on purpose so that he can "pee in the grass!!" he always asks me to do that...ugh, and #2, when my sister was little, like 3ish, we found her peeing like a boy off the front step...doesnt work quite the same! haha
