Michael Bolton

My best friend, McKenna, bought a Michael Bolton Music Video VHS tape from her aunt's garage sale when we were in college. We loved that tape. When we were roommates we'd battle every stressful situation (writers block, getting proposed to in Spanish on a first date, getting dumped by boyfriends, etc.) by pumping the volume and singing "Steel Bars" at the top of our lungs. There is nothing in life that a little "Time, Love, and Tenderness" can't fix.

So you can imagine our euphoria upon hearing that Michael Bolton would be performing in Wendover, NV. Our Michael Bolton. We were elated to find that we could ride the "fun bus" to Wendover along with all the Senior gamblers for a mere $11. Then we were dismayed to find that the tickets are $249. That's 2 HUNDRED FORTY-NINE dollars. Wha?

Well, we're not going. And we're enormous fans. Which brings me to my next question: Who IS going?

Does Michael have any hardcore fans willing to pay prices like that? Does any musician have fans willing to pay prices like that?

Discuss.

Not. Me. Although I LOVED that album. I tried playing TIme Love and Tenderness for your mother when we first got it, but she looked at me like I was crazy. Nothing unusual there. I used to exercise to the guy. But I never did see an actual picture of him, which was probably good, because if it had been that picture, I would have spent way too much time worrying about him getting his chest hair caught in that zipper.

Do you suppose he was sucking his cheeks in?

i LOVED 80s hair.

When I googled the concert I was coming up with prices in the mid 200's but when I went to this website it says tickets start at $20. But they actually start at $40, but then there is a $4 service charge for each ticket and an extra $3 for them to mail it to you. That's too bad because I'm sure it would be a way better concert with you there!

Over the years I've often been surprised at my children's taste in music. I remember many years ago we were in Sam's and you and Cam came running up with "The Best of Neil Diamond" CD. I laughed thinking that we were just showing me the worst CD on the rack. My jaw dropped when I realized that you were serious and you wanted me to buy it. I probably said something like, "You're not putting that thing in my cart".

One day I was over helping my friend Pam and we determined that we needed to call for an ambulance for her. I looked over and she had on a Michael Bolton tee shirt. Probably that very picture you are showing was all over the front of her. I teased, "Look what you are wearing to go to the hospital. How humiliating!" We laughed.

But I would chip in $50 for you and Kenna to go if you found Dan's $20 tickets.

Oh man. I might have to tell my mom about the concert! I think she would divorce my dad for Michael Bolton if given the option. AND sell her first born child to go to a concert. Good thing I am not first born...

I WOULD "discuss," but I'm speechless. $249?! On what planet?!?

"I'll be honest with you, I love his music. I do. I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman".

Ten bucks says my dad will be on that fun bus (which by itself is worth any amount of cash money). I've picked him up many a time from the station.

He's coming to Idaho Falls for a lot less that $249. Road trip!

They never sound as good live as they do on their CD-(maybe in his case tape...) I can get that for less than $20. That is good enought for me!

Meridee you are a true saint to say you would chip in for that, I too feel you raised her better than that!

Michael was my very 1st concert at age 10. LOVED IT!
Nobody is worth $249.
However, my Mom went last year, so I guess some people DO pay.

LOL! Kristen's comment is perfect. Sucking in his cheeks........wowza! That is some hair! All of it!

Your mom's comment about Pam's t-shirt is fabulous too. What a hoot!

I'd pay twenty bucks....maybe it's a typo! Maybe they meant to say the tickets are $24.99 Because if they charged 25 bucks no one would come. Such a deal!
