He's Watching...

I did it. I bought an Elf on a Shelf. I pooled the Barnes and Noble Gift cards I got for Christmas last year and my birthday in March and a couple of dollars from my allowance and I bought one. I'd read about it {here} and {here} and {here}. Basically he's an elf that watches what Maggie does and then goes to the North Pole every night to tell Santa how Maggie's been doing.

Last night, I brought out the little fella and the book about him and read it to Maggie. She named him Ralph. Let's just hope he has a good effect on her behavior because I'm really needing something to have a good effect on her behavior! Anything!

Wow how much is he? Priceless I'm guessing.

Cute idea. And he LOOKS like a "Ralph," too.

Um she behaved herself just fine when I was around, would you like me to move in?

We have one of these. It drives me crazy because I NEVER remember to move him and then the kids get annoyed that he isn't moving around the house. Sigh. Good luck with yours!

Did you know we had an elf? His name was Alf and he was made out of a strange styrofoam ball and pipe cleaners with felt clothes. He was awesome.
I think it's a fun tradition, and I hope he helps. I could probably use one of those around here as a good behavior motivator as well.

Yeaaahhhh!!! I am so happy you got one...it is really so fun and Ethan is still a 7 1/2 year old believer!! ;-) Is your elf going to be up to anything? Our kids specifically asked Santa for naughty elves this year! LOL! So our elves are going to be TPing them tonight while they sleep, more gumballs, a new movie with popcorn thrown all OVER the family room, all the balls taken off the tree (I still don't know if I am really up for this one) etc. If you have ideas for me, let me know! Have so much fun with this!!!

Yeah - we had Alf because my mom sent him to us. She'd heard about the practice of elf-watchers decades ago, and sent one to our house. It was important - you know how wild our children were and how we had to keep them in line. He was supposed o move around from place to place, just to make sure he got the whole story, but there were whole series of days when he just sat there in the same place. Tired, I guess.

HEY!!!! I bought one this year too!! The kids got a kick out of all the places the elf would end up everyday.

As if we don't have enough traditions in this house........
