Nothing an Icee Can't Fix

So today was pretty much rough. Maggie insisted on playing battleship (even though I swear she's never seen the game before) but while fetching it for her, the board games on the top shelf of the closet fell on me. I yelled the "s" word as my head was pegged with boggle cubes and Maggie repeated it. Great.

Then, Maggie threw a fit because she wanted milk on her cereal, but not the milk I brought her, different milk. But we don't have different milk. Then she wanted ice cream. But we don't have ice cream. She wanted juice, but she didn't want Daddy to get it for her. It had to be Mommy.

The boys wanted to play with Maggie. They like to watch her and touch her, but every-time they got close to her, she kicked them in the face. This happened twice with me telling her not to. Thus, she earned herself a spanking. For the next 15 minutes 3 sobbing children were in my arms: 2 children pushed and one 1 child lightly spanked.

Lunch was pretty much like breakfast. Maggie wanted Macaroni and Cheese but she didn't want me to cook it.  I think she wanted it just to emerge from the box. She wanted an apple, but didn't want to eat it--just hold it. The boys just wanted to throw their food on the floor or take it from each other's mouths. Then when I finally got Cole out of his high chair he grabbed a peach slice that was on his lap and shoved it into his mouth as though he were starving. Maybe he didn't realize he'd just thrown 15 peach slices just like it onto the floor!

Then Mags pooped on the carpet. She's sick! Okay, that explains the grumpiness and the food pickiness. All the kids sat screaming while I scrubbed out the poop with carpet cleaner. So I put Shrek 2 on for the second time that day.

My phone keypad was locked and being a new phone from China the instructions for unlocking it didn't make sense. After being unable to use my phone for 3 hours, I removed the battery and restarted the phone. Aha! But when I checked my messages I found that Beth had called me to go with her for cupcakes. I called her back in a crazed rush, but she'd already gone.

That's when I cried. And swore.

And Maggie pooped on the carpet again.

But Dan came home to save the day, and we took turns eating dinner while dealing with tantrums from the children. Then I got the kids in bed, and went to Maverick for an Icee. And Dan and I watched Law and Order. Luckily, they figured out who the murderer was. Somehow they always figure it out. So, the day turned out okay after all. I vow to not swear once tomorrow.

I just wish I could find a cupcakery with a drive thru or at least hours after 7 p.m. I gotta have me a cupcake.

Wow, now that's a day. Sorry cute girl. I think somebody would make a killing with a 24 hr cupcake place--drive through definitely preferred!

Dude. Sick two year olds can set the precedent for an entire day, that's for sure. I hope today goes better.

Oh what a terrible, no good, very very, very bad day. I'm so sorry Megs. Thanks for sharing because I know I'm not the only one who has crazy, crappy days. I hope today is absolutely amazing.

What a crappy day! Megan- you are seriously a great mom and a way fun person to be around! Keep smiling and remember that you will miss days like this someday- ok- so maybe I don't completely mean that last part. But I am told that by many wise people. Good luck and remember YOU ARE AWESOME!

Oh and aren't we all so thankful for that "HUSBAND TO THE RESCUE!!!" I don't know what I would do without it!

ALSO- The thought of you swearing makes me chuckle a little bit- seiously I can't even picture it! lol!

I have at times burst into tears when Brian is fifteen minutes late. I don't know what people are talking about when they say kids come between spouses sometimes...

Wow.

WOW!

I can't really improve with all the above answers, so I just thwie with them.
I'm sorry we didn't cupcake rendezvous yesterday. I wanted to. I should have just brought one out to you. Tomorrow we'll definitely have to, huh?
Coincidentally, and maybe this shouldn't be on your blog, but yesterday the whole reason I got to go get a cupcake was because Joel found my journal entry from Tuesday up on the laptop. He read it and was concerned about how depressed I sounded. And I was like, "Yeah. EVERY day is REALLY hard. And even when I have awesome, fun days, there are still big chunks of the day that are REALLY hard. And I know I'm doing a lot of what I have to do to become who God wants me to become, but it's still hard. Everyday."
He was like, "Why don't you go get yourself a cupcake?" And I was like out the door (called you first) before he'd even finished that sentence.
The thing that always makes me sad is I KNOW you have a harder row to hoe than me right now. How do you find the strength?

I hope you'll forgive me, Megs, but I couldn't help chuckling - I mean, Maggie repeated the word, but then, so did you - it's your mother's bad word, chickie, and you heard it, and now YOU say it. And this reminds me so much of your mom's no good, very bad day. I sigh. We don't have outhouses anymore, and we have penicillin, and you don't have to buy a block of ice for the fridge - but some things never change, from the foundation of the earth. You will survive it.

Beth's entry struck such a cord with me. G just stopped reading my journal, finally, way back. It just wasn't any fun. And yet, I remember those years now with a fondness that does not include a return ticket.
