Growing up, my siblings and I loved to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Loved it--except the part where the child catcher dresses up like a candy man and throws Jeremy and Jemima in a cage. Not okay.
Dan, however, never liked the show. I feel really bad for him for that fact. But this weekend we watched it again and I think he kind of enjoyed himself. The best part was after Caratacus Pott's dancing number when Dan said to me "Well, at least now I know where you learned to dance."
I wish I could dance that good. At least he knows where I get my inspiration.

I don't really even remember seeing that movie. How did I get away with that?
Dick VanDyke is an awesome dancer, I love him and his penguin feet.
This made my day. We got Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a white elephant gift this year and my boys love to watch it. Maybe they will learn to dance like that too...
I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
We did see it. We just didn't own it. Personally, I think Dick Van Dyke should be made some kind of saint. He's dear and funny and can dance on roofs and in circuses and in animation and come up grinning. What a dude.
This has always been a favorite of mine also. And I love watching my girls enjoy it as well.
"You're my little Choochy face"
"And you're my teddy bear...."
My kids like it too. My two year old says about the child catcher, "He's scary Mom."
What a great movie! I haven't seen it in years. I love Dick VanDyke and his style of dancing. It reminds me quite a bit of Mary Poppins and the chimney sweep scene towards the end.
There's definitely nothing wrong with that style of dancing...and I'm sure you're right up there with Dick VanDyke, Megs. ;)
Wanna go to Thnksgiving Point with me in about an hour (12:30)?? Call me or just write me back I will check my email in about an hour! I hope you can come!
I love love love this show. Bret watched it the first time on DVD with me when we were first married and told me he had never seen the Ole Bamboo song since he watched it on TV (disney movie Sundays...remember?). WHAT???! this song is the best one on there...well other than the one where they pretend to be toys and sing a duet - that's my favorite.
We rotate through three movies on Sunday's:
1. Chitty chitty bang bang - grew up with and now my kids will too! At school Ella was asked the question "What would you be if you could fly" ...her answer...a flying car :) It's also pretty darn funny when your little ones can't really pronnounce the "ch" sound and substitute it with "sh" so the song Chitty Chitty bang bang comes out pretty commical.
2. Bedknobs and Broomsticks - they adore the portobello road song.
3. Marry Poppins
last night I got them to watch Babes in Toyland...another one I love.
hey lady, i need your email address so i can include in my letter writing project!!!
