I Get It

Maybe its the early child educator in me, but I find language development fascinating. The way that children learn and use words is amazing and, quite often, hilarious.

At church on Sunday Maggie stole the church program from the family in front of us. Dan said to her, "No Maggie. That's not yours."
Being told not to do anything doesn't sit well with Mags so she immediately began to cry. But I was cracked up by what she was whining.

"Yours. Yooooooouuurrrrrrrrrrs. Yooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuurs," She kept crying.

Of course, since Dan said "it's not yours," then "yours" would certainly be the opposite.

Good thinking Mags.

I'm fascinated by language development too. Children have the brilliant ability to take our bungled English language and make it make sense.
