The Obsession Reaches a New Low

Maggie is still obsessed with shoes. Not only does she bring me shoes from my closet all day to try on, but she takes her own shoes on and off at least 763 times per day. When cousin Clara comes to visit the first thing the girls do is trade shoes. Too bad Maggie has fat Barney Rubble feet and sometimes takes 5 minutes to squeeze her feet into Clara's boots. The other day a neighbor girl came over with her parents and Maggie couldn't understand why the girl wouldn't want to trade shoes with her. Isn't that what everybody does when they play with friends?

But last night the shoe obsession reached a new high, or maybe low (depending on how you look at it). At about 2 am Maggie started crying in her room. I thought I'd let her cry it out but after a few minutes she got louder and started calling "Mom! Mom!" I went in to make sure she was okay and she wanted me to hold her. I got her and then she said that she wanted to go into my room to watch a movie. I told her no. So then she looked over at her dresser and said "Shoes!" I handed her sandals to her and she laid back in her crib and cuddled her shoes to her face and went back to sleep. I chose not to think of the germs. Most kids have a blanky or a teddy bear to sooth them to sleep at night. My kid has shoes.

I found your blog through my google reader, and I couldn't resist commenting on this! Hilarious!!!!! I have the opposite problem with my 2 year old. She hates wearing shoes! We've lost 3 pairs of shoes at church this year. How do you lose shoes at church....in the Nursery? Oh well, thanks for giving a stranger a good laugh!

I see you are stalking me...not following the restraining order that I have had against you since 9th grade? I guess I might have to add blogs to it!
Anywho, I totally am in love with Cedric...but who isn't? He's a keeper!
Watch that back of yours!

Kids are so weird. Ginna was very fond of a pair of my favorite platforms, but I don't think she ever actually napped with them?

A girl after my own heart! I have to say that shoes sometimes "pacify" me too!

You don't actually know me but I have to admit I blogstalk your blog. So now I'm introducing myself because I just wrote an Ode to Shoes on my own blog from my little boy. Check it out and enjoy. By the way, I love your blog. It's one of my faves.

I saw some cute shoe quotes I thought would give you a giggle...

"Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life!"

"Give a girl the correct footwear and she can conquer the world"

"Wheter you're a good witch or a bad witch, it's all about the shoes!

So...go with the flow...she could have worse obsessions...and I must admit I'm pretty partial to a cute pair of shoes myself :)

Megs- That is so awsome. At least it is something she will already have along with her at any given time instead of dragging around a dirty germ-ridden blanket. :)
