Computer Trauma

So, yesterday I couldn't get my HP laptop to charge. Dan double checked the cord. Its working. But something is wrong with the computer itself. Not good news. Dan went on some google message boards last night as is his habit if we ever have problems with household objects. And the bad news is that everybody says that HP laptops eventually all get that problem and it takes at least 200 bucks to fix it. That's not an exorbital amount I suppose, but right now it is. I even had to take some valentines I bought back to Target last night so I could buy diapers instead. So now my blogging will take a hit with no pictures. If anybody knows a computer genius in the area (preferably one who likes to work for free, just kidding, sort of) let me know.

Good Luck!!!! I know I need to start backing up our files!!!! I will add that to my todo list right now. I would die if I lost all my pictures and if my business files were gone all my financing would be lost. that would be a tax nightmare! I have backed up all our movies though. :o) again good luck!

check with Murphy. I don't know if he'd be able to help you, but you never know....I always go to him with my computer troubles even though he's more of a programming man than a repair man. But check! Do you want his email?

I wish I could say that my hubby could help but he too is a programmer and not an IT guy. Good Luck...stupid computers!

Murphy says he knows a hardware guy, and he's going to ask. I'm emailing him your blog. But you should email him too. It's just his name at our business, full name of the biz minus "company"

Confused yet?

Oooh meggs that's a bummer. I just barely had to buy a new battery for my laptop. It was a pain.
I called my friend who's a computer genius, and he said that no company will sell you a warranty on a batter that's more than a year because it's pretty much guaranteed that the battery will die after about a year.
He suggested going to HP's website and doing a search for a battery recall (incase that was the issue). I did that, and didn't come up with much. What a bummer!

Update...we found a computer guy, Beth's brother in law, who will take a look at it and hopefully at least download the hard drive so we'll have our Christmas pictures. But the computer appears to be toast. Dead. And not worth salvaging (i.e. the cost to fix it would be more than the worth of the computer) so now my dream is to save my pennies for a mac. In the meantime (the next 5 years until my pennies add up to the value of a mac) I'll just share Dan's computer in the spare 5 minutes each day when its not being used to write a thesis or buy things on ebay.
