Private Lessons

Last night I attended the Do-It-Herself workshop at Home Depot. I had hoped to attend the Hanson concert at the Depot in Salt Lake, but for some reason I couldn't find anybody else in Utah that wanted to go to the concert as badly as I did. And I just wasn't up for going alone.

So I went to Home Depot. I signed up for the class online and went to the class early so that I could be one of the first 30 attendees, thus securing myself a door prize. Well, I needn't have worried. I was the only Do-It-Herself-er there.  I won the door prize by a long shot.

I went to the class hoping to get some ideas for redoing our outdated bathrooms and kitchen. And that's exactly what I got. Only, instead of just listening to somebody spout of project ideas and blah blah blah, I got a tour of the store where I not only got the project ideas but I also got personalized step by step instructions. Because I was the only dang student.

I had the chance to say "And I was thinking of painting my banister..." and then I was shown exactly what products I would need and how I should do it. And then I could say "And I'm also thinking that I would like a floor like this in my kitchen. How would I install that?" And bang! boom! they told me how to do it.

Now if I could just win a sweepstakes or something so I'd have the funds for all these projects I now "know" how to do...

Okay, I think it's funny you were the ONLY one, but congrats on scoring the door prize anyway! :) I do think it's cool you got a tour of the store and got 100% of their attention for whatever you wanted. VERY cool.

As far as the funding, you just need to find a cute little place to sell your jam....

Oh, I should have gone with you!! I love Home Depot!!!! But I love you more. It would have been awesome! Love you Megs!

Exactly! So many fun things to fix up, but they all cost money. Okay, I just noticed the jam on your post below-- I love the names! How creative. My favorite is "holy heck jalapeno"--I agree with Jen. Market those jams to fund the home improvement. :)

That exact same thing happened to me. Only I was tiling.

I bet you are glad you didn't see Hanson.

What!?! No Hanson? Aack. I was pretty sure I saw that a friend from High School was going and I almost told you to hook up with her and go. For heck sakes, I would've gone with you, even though I am not certain I know Hanson.... I still woulda gone with you! After all, I attended my first concert only two years ago, New Kids on the Block. It was awesome!

Shoot - why don't I ever hear about these things? I want to tile the bathrooms, and I'd have loved to get personal attention like that. To the attendees go the spoils!! Now DO something.
